Unburdening Professionals (UP!)
Addressing the complexities of alcohol or drug use can be challenging and is often accompanied by setbacks. Research demonstrates that engaging in comprehensive and evidence-based treatment, including group therapy, can effectively resolve substance use issues. Unburdening Professionals (UP!) is a weekly therapy group for adult professionals seeking freedom from the burdens of substance use in a supportive and utmost confidential setting. This therapy group integrates two evidence-based treatment modalities, cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing, to help participants:
- Address ambivalence toward change
- Increase and maintain motivation
- Enhance adaptive coping responses
- Make healthier choices and decisions
- Improve personal and professional relationships
- Create and sustain personal value
- Promote freedom in everyday living
Unburdening Professionals meets weekly for 90 minutes in the evening on an ongoing basis. This therapy group will begin in late January of 2013. Other comprehensive care services also are available, including psychiatric evaluation, medication management and individual psychotherapy, for participants who prefer additional support.
