Grant Information:

R01 HD048176: Role of Candidate Alleles in Cognitive Outcome After TBI. NICHD. 10/01/04 – July 31, 2010 (TW McAllister, PI)

This project explores role of candidate alleles in modulating cognitive and behavioral outcomes 1 month and 1 year after TBI. A subgroup undergo fMRI and structural imaging at those time points.

1R01HD047242: RCT Methylphenidate & Memory/Attention Training in TBI. NICHD. 7/01/06 – 2/28/11. (TW McAllister, PI)

This is a randomized placebo controlled 2X2 design assessing efficacy of methylphenidate and a cognitive rehab intervention in alleviating cognitive complaints and deficits 4-30 months after TBI. A subgroup undergo fMRI and structural imaging pre and post treatment.
HRSA US MCHB TBI Post Demonstration Grant. 4/01/06 – 3/30/09 (TW McAllister, Co-PI).

This project works to equip nurses and family/caregivers to support individuals with TBI and neurobehavioral challenges.

1RO1NS055020: Role of Biomechanical Force Exposure and Genotype on Outcome After TBI. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. 7/01/07 – 6/30/12 (McAllister, TW: PI).

This project uses helmet based accelerometers, structural and functional imaging, and neurocognitive assessment to study the effects of concussion and repetitive sub-concussive blows to the head in college student athletes (Dartmouth football and hockey players).

1R01HD48638 Biomechanical Basis of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury. NICHD Biomedical Research Partnership Grant. 2007-2012. Principal Investigator (PI): Richard M. Greenwald, PhD., Role: Site PI, Dartmouth Medical School.
This project is a multi-site consortium exploring the basis of sports concussion.
R01/CE001254: Effect of Biomechanical Force Exposure on Cognition and Brain Activation in Student Athletes: Centers For Disease Control, 9/01/07 – 8/31/11 (McAllister, TW: PI).

This project uses helmet based accelerometers, structural and functional imaging, and neurocognitive assessment to study the effects of concussion and repetitive sub-concussive blows to the head in high school athletes (Hanover High School football players.)

PT075446 - “Dartmouth and NCPTSD/Northern New England VA Consortium for PTSD/TBI”), Department of Defense (DOD) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury (PTSD/TBI) Research Program of the Office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP).(McAllister, TW: PI). Nov. 1, 2008 -Sept 30, 2013.

This project funds the Dartmouth TBI Research Program, the National Center for PTSD, and the Northern New England VA Research Consortium to be one of 10 participating clinical sites as part of a DOD PTSD/TBI Clinical Consortium. A variety of clinical trials addressing TBI, PTSD and the co-morbid condition will be funded through this mechanism in the next five years. The award made to UCSD is: W81XWH-08-2-0159

R01HD047242-04S1: The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute Of Child Health & Human Development: RCT Methylphenidate & Memory/Attention Training in Traumatic Brain Injury. This is a CER supplement awarded under the terms of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. 09/30/2009 – 09/29/2011, $271,198, (McAllister, TW: PI)
