Patricia Ernst Patricia Ernst is an Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and Microbiology and Immunology at Dartmouth Medical School. She received a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of Washington and Ph.D. from U.C.L.A. in Microbiology and Immunology. She performed postdoctoral studies with Dr. Korsmeyer at Harvard Medical School, where she was a Damon Runyon Fellow and a Special Fellow of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. As a junior faculty, she was the recipient of a Career Development Award from the N.I.D.D.K., the Sydney Kimmel Scholar's Award, and a Scholar Award from The V Foundation. She is one of the co-directors of the Cancer Mechanisms group in the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.

Tao Gan
Graduate Student
Tao is from Ganzhou, a beautiful town in China. She studied biotechnology from 2003 to 2007 at Sun Yat-sen University and received her B.S. degree there. Currently, she is interested in the role of MLL during lymphocyte commitment. In her free time, Tao is crazy about all kinds of animation movies, and always tries to convince her friends that watching cartoons makes people younger!

Bin Li
Graduate Student
Bin is from Shandong, China. He received his B.Eng. from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore in 2002. Consequently he became interested in Biomedical Sciences and obtained his M.Sc. (Bioinformatics) from National University of Singapore. Having stayed in Singapore for 9 years, he has decided to purse a PhD in Genetics. He is now focusing on Mll interacting proteins and their role in controlling hematopoietic stem cell functions. Meanwhile, he can't stop craving for delicious chili crabs from Singapore.

Bibhu Mishra
Postdoctoral Fellow
Bibhu is originally from an eastern Indian state called Orissa. He finished his M.Tech in biotechnology from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He then received his Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, The University of Texas at Arlington. There he worked with Dr. Mandal. He is now interested in the role of MLL and its interacting proteins in hematopoietic stem cell function. At this moment he is enjoying his stay in pristine Hanover in NH. Bibhu is the proud recipient of a Lady Tata Memorial Trust Postdoctoral Fellowship and received a travel award from the ISEH.

Yufei Chen
Graduate Student
Yufei is originally from Chongqing, China and she graduated from Peking University in 2009 with a BS in Biological Science. Currently she is focusing on the role of MLL in maintaining leukemia stem cells. Her other interests include training to become the first Formula One driver under 100lbs and making spicy food, but not at the same time.

Yoo Jung ("YJ") Kim
Dartmouth '14
Yoo Jung is originally from South Korea; she moved to the United States in 1999. She wants to major in the humanities yet hopes to pursue molecular science in her post-graduate education. She is currently flexing her tissue culture skills!

Kimberly Archambault
Research Technician
Kim is originally from Epping, NH and received her B.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular, and Cellular Biology from the University of New Hampshire in 2012. Currently she is working on the role of MLL during mouse erythropoiesis and learning to tame the other lab animals.

Weiwei Yang
Graduate Student
Weiwei is originally from Changsha, China. In 2012, she received her BS in Biological Science from Zhejiang University. She is currently interested in generating an inducible model to study MLL's role in maintaining stem cell activity. If not doing research, she wants to own a small restaurant that only sells homemade food.

Florence Rabian
Hematology/Oncology Visiting Fellow
Florence is a French MD from Paris Descartes Medical School pursuing specialization in Hematology and a Master's in Genetics. She is interested in leukemia and will join onto a T-cell leukemia project in January 2014. She applied for and received fellowships from 3 funding agencies, and in the end will be the proud recipient of a fellowship from the Nuovo Soldati Foundation for Cancer Research. She is a "food explorer" and hopefully will find some local delicacies during her 6 month project in New Hampshire!

Nani
Lab guard dog
I was born Jan. 18, 2006 and was raised in the lab. I'm an Akita from Nakodo Akitas in New Hampshire. Mako is my real owner, but I like to hang out in Patricia's office. I keep various people from stealing restriction enzymes from the lab, bark at bad sales reps. and wag at the nice ones. I enjoy hanging out with grad students and I love to chase the red dot that comes out of the pointer.

Former Lab Members

Erika Artinger
PhD 2006-2011. Erika set the bar for meticulous and detailed stem cell research in the lab, tortured many rotation students, and is currently doing a postdoc in the Sanchez lab at Dartmouth.
