"The 15 Minute Heart Cure"

Dr. John M. Kennedy, D/B '90
April 13, 2010

Dr. Kennedy shared his experiences and reflections about his career in cardiology and valuable advice from his new book. His presentation was filled with nostalgia for DMS, informative practical thoughts and advice on reducing stress. Stress can be lethal, and it is something that can easily be reversed. He reminded us, that as a society we are doing more with less time and often creating stress where there is none. Dr. Kennedy discussed the importance of recognizing the constant communication which occurs between the heart and brain and how paying attention to this can assist in the reduction of stress. Dr. Kennedy ended the evening with a charming retelling of the children's classic by Dr. Seuss, " One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish." His version, "One Heart, Two Heart, Red Heart, Blue Heart," was a wonderful rendition reminding us that, "all the facts and figures and sciences I've read, prove the key to managing stress and protecting our heart is all in our head!"
